Indian equity markets closed with strong gains as media reports suggested new developments on the US-China trade talk front. China agreed on signing a Phase-1 deal with the US.
Nifty and Bank Nifty indices traded with a positive bias throughout the day with the latter outperforming the former.
Market erased most of its intraday gains but ended marginally higher on October 14 with Nifty able to hold above 11,300 level.
The Sensex was up 87.39 points at 38,214.47, while Nifty was up 36.20 points at 11,341.20. About 1207 shares have advanced, 1268 shares declined, and 225 shares are unchanged.
Sensex ended 246.68 points higher or 0.65 percent at 38127.08, and the Nifty closed 70.50 points in the green at 11305.00. About 1083 shares have advanced, 1353 shares declined, and 163 shares are unchanged. Metals and IT were the top gainers.
SGX Nifty is steady, indicating a positive opening for the broader index in India. Around 0835 hours IST, SGX Nifty was 37 points, or 0.32 percent, up at 11,298.
Sensex ended 297.55 points lower or 0.78% at 37880.40, and the Nifty closed 78.80 points in the red at 11234.50. About 875 shares have advanced, 1541 shares declined, and 176 shares are unchanged. Bank Nifty closed over 2 percent lower with IndusInd Bank shedding 6 percent.
Equity benchmark indices snapped yesterday’s rally and opened lower in the morning trade as market participants seem to be cautious ahead of the Q2 corporate earnings announcement.
The Sensex was trading 143 points lower at 38,035 levels, while Nifty50 index was trading at 11,276, down 37 points.
The market is experiencing mild volatility. Within the first ten minutes of trade, Sensex saw a swing of 159 points between high and low of 37,663.12 and 37,503.74, respectively.
The market ended in the red for the sixth consecutive session as the concerns over weak macroeconomic environment persisted.
Sensex closed 141 points, or 0.38 percent, down at 37,531.98, with 22 stocks in the red and 8 in the green.
Around 0925 hours IST, the BSE Sensex was 85 points, or 0.23 percent, down at 37,588, while the NSE Nifty was 46 points, or 0.41 percent, down at 11,129.
Sensex ended 457.50 points or 1.20 percent in the red at 37649.37, and the Nifty shed 150.10 points or 1.33 percent at 11163.90. About 973 shares have advanced, 1615 shares declined, and 244 shares are unchanged.
